Insurance & Payment Policy
At Restorative Care Acupuncture & Health, we are committed to making personalized care accessible, straightforward, and transparent. All of our patients receive one-on-one care and hands-on treatment from an Acupuncture Physician in every session.
Do You Take Insurance?
Many of our patients have insurance, and many insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits for acupuncture. We are an out-of-network acupuncture clinic, meaning we are not in-network with any insurance company.
Payment is due at the time of service, but we provide receipts (Superbills) for self-claims that you can submit to your insurance for possible out-of-network reimbursement or to be applied to your deductible.
Note: At our clinic we do not submit claims on your behalf, but we will make self-claims as simple as possible.
Reimbursement is not guaranteed. It depends on your specific plan.
Why Are We Out-of-Network?
The short answer:
We don’t allow insurance companies to dictate or limit the care our patients receive. At Restorative Care Acupuncture & Health, your treatment is guided by what you need, not what your policy covers.
The longer answer:
We’ve chosen to operate as an out-of-network practice because the model required to work with insurance companies often forces clinics to prioritize volume over quality. In-network providers are typically under pressure to see many patients per hour and limit treatment options based on what insurance will reimburse. That’s not how we work.
We believe in offering personalized, attentive, and effective care without shortcuts or compromises. Being out-of-network allows us the freedom to treat you as a whole person, not a billing code.
📞 Questions to Ask Your Insurance Company
To understand your acupuncture benefits, ask your insurance provider the following:
1. If I receive acupuncture from an out-of-network clinic and submit the Superbills myself, how will my claims be processed? Will I be eligible for any reimbursement, and will the costs also count toward my out-of-network deductible?
-
Keep in mind that some insurance representatives may be instructed to guide members toward in-network clinics to help the insurance company manage costs.
2. What is my out-of-pocket cost for acupuncture at an in-network clinic before meeting my deductible?
-
Note: Your insurance company may only provide a percentage rather than an exact amount. In-network acupuncture clinics typically bill at least $80 per session, with some charging over $200 per session to the insurance company.
📞 Questions to Ask In-Network Acupuncture Clinics
If you're exploring in-network options, here are some questions to help you assess the quality and type of care provided:
1. On average, how many patients per hour does each provider treat?
-
This can help give you insight into how much personal attention and quality of care you’ll receive.
2. Who will be providing the actual care during treatments? Will I be seen exclusively by a licensed acupuncturist, or will other support staff, such as assistants, be involved in the process?
-
Understanding who performs your treatment is key to receiving safe and effective care.
